10th Islamic Economics Conference

UMST extends its warm congratulations to Dr. Dina Ghandour, an assistant professor of accounting & finance at the Faculty of Business Administration, for representing UMST at the 10th Islamic Economics Conference with the theme of “Economic Crises and Islamic Economics”, by presenting her paper entitled “Assessment of the Effect of Economic Crisis on Income and Wealth Distribution within Countries”.

The Conference was organized by the Research Center for Islamic Economics (IKAM) in collaboration with Istanbul University Center for Islamic Economics and Finance (İSİFAM) on 14-16 October 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The primary aim of the conference was to address the economic crises, understand their causes, and develop structural solutions and strategies to minimize the frequency of their occurrence. Specifically, scholars and professionals from across the globe were gathered to discuss conceptual, theoretical, and practical suggestions to present and analyze the current situation and the economic crises in a comprehensive way. The conference concluded after a packed inaugural day program and 6 successful conference sessions spread over two days.

In light of these, Dr. Ghandour stated that the conference was very fruitful in which all participants have discussed conference theme in depth, and have emphasized the importance of the tools of Islamic economics and finance in overcoming economic crises.

Following the conference, academics and professionals had the chance to visit the Research Center for Islamic Economics (IKAM), where they were able to network and carry on discussions on various issues relating to Islamic Economics and Finance globally.

UMST’s Faculty of Business Administration is pleased to participate in such a prestigious conference covering a fundamental issue in economics.
